There are few better ways to immerse yourself in Ribera del Duero and understand its historical evolution than through Tinto Pesquera, the Familia Fernández Rivera winery that pioneered Tempranillo winemaking methods and played a key role in the growth of this Designation of Origin.

Through Vindesía, the family group's wine tourism brand, El Lagar experience offers a journey through time, blending traditional and artisanal techniques with cutting-edge methods and state-of-the-art technology. The experience begins with a visit to the impressive 16th-century stone winepress, where its founders crafted their first wines in 1972 as a tribute to their hometown, Pesquera de Duero.

After an enriching tour through the winery’s different production areas—from the historic spaces to the most modern and innovative—visitors can enjoy a tasting of the winery’s most iconic wines, such as Tinto Pesquera Crianza, Tinto Pesquera Reserva, and Tinto Pesquera MXI. These wines are crafted from Tempranillo grapes grown at varying altitudes, giving each one a unique and distinctive character.

The tastings are always accompanied by a selection of handcrafted local products, further enhancing this immersive experience.

  • Guided tour of the experimental vineyard (may be excluded depending on weather and condition of the vineyard).
  • Tour of the Tinto Pesquera winery, glass in hand, through the different areas of wine production, from the historical area, the old historic wine press of the 16th century, to the most modern and innovative area.
  • The visit includes a tasting of three wines at three key points of the winery: Vino Familia Fernández Rivera, Tinto Pesquera Crianza and Tinto Pesquera MXI.
  • The tasting is accompanied by a selection of artisan products such as a toast of bread with AOVE Dehesa La Granja, a shot of hummus made with DOP Fuentesaúco chickpeas, also from the family farm, and a tapa of artisan cheese Dehesa La Granja.
