The Casa de los Maestros Winery, located in Nava del Rey, Valladolid, is a historical treasure that transports us through time and reveals the rich winemaking tradition of the region. This unique space, dating back to the 16th century, is made up of a set of four underground wine cellars located beneath what were once four dwellings.
Throughout the centuries, this place has witnessed various transformations. In the 18th century, the houses were converted into a convent of Capuchin Mothers, and the cellars were joined to form a single space. Later, in the 19th century, the building acquired multiple uses, and in 1928 it was transformed into a public school. Finally, in 1948, it became a House of Teachers and lately a building for cultural use.
The restoration of the winery in 2023 has allowed for the recovery of this valuable heritage and its opening to the public. During the visit, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of wine in Nava del Rey and explore the unique characteristics of this space where wine culture, architecture, and popular knowledge are intertwined.
The Casa de los Maestros Winery is much more than a place to learn about the winemaking process. It is a journey through time that allows us to discover the history of a building and its evolution over the centuries. It is a space where tradition, culture, and architecture merge, and where visitors can appreciate the richness of the heritage of Nava del Rey."
