Vinos con Dulcinea y los Gigantes Molinos de Viento

It is a literary-gastronomic experience, incorporating a cultural component to a traditional wine tourism activity. The values dealt with in the novel of El Quixote will be integrated, such as the spirit of the search for truth, the struggle for justice and honor, as well as the motivation of courteous love.

The path begins with a tour of El Toboso, at Toledo, with the option of accompaniment during the route, of two actors playing Don Quijote and Sancho Panza, as well as the possibility to visit the different museums of the town (Centro Cervantino, Museo del Humor Gráfico de Don Quijote and Casa de Dulcinea).

Lunch will be served at the Gastronomic House El Rincón de La Mancha, a restaurant that offers some dishes mentioned in Don Quijote, as well as various wines from local wineries affiliated to the Designation of Origin of La Mancha Wine.

In the afternoon, we will visit a winery (either Campos de Dulcinea or Finca Antigua, depending on availability).

The winery Campos de Dulcinea, although it’s not within the Designation of Origin of La Mancha wine, is part of the Wine Routes of Spain and, is integrated in the protected geographical indication wines of the Land of Castile. This winery brings together wines with several awards such as Campo and Alma, Vinos Tierra del Quijote, Golden Quijote, the Gold Medals of Brussels and London, the Silver Medal in Amsterdam in the category Tempranillo. In this winery, we can choose to taste from a sauvignon blanc of old vines, to sparkling grape macabeo. But we recommend tasting their fresh and sweet rosés and their Family Selection reds, and Vale Oro, both from their award-winning Tempranillo grape.

These three selections offer a good pairing with the cheeses of La Mancha, with meats, and in the special case of Vale Oro, with desserts with chocolate.

The Finca Antigua winery is managed by the Martínez-Bujanda family, a family with a long tradition in wine making throughout Spain. In the case of this winery, we can taste various varieties with Designation of Origin of La Mancha, mainly Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Syrah, Merlot and Viura. They have both mono-varietal, as combinations in any of these wineries, we can enjoy a guided tour through its facilities by their qualified staff, as well as a tasting commented with the oenologist of each house. Finally, a wine tasting at sunset is offered next to the Windmills of Alcázar de San Juan.

This activity connects the literary and cultural part with the eno-gastronomic part, thanks to the singular location and the work of the guides, establishing the connection orally and generating expectation for the afternoon activities.
